I am a firm believer in the saying "Attitude is Everything!" - if you tell yourself things are bad, you can wallow. If you tell yourself things are good, you strive towards that mindset! This is especially important as we get older, because in this day and age, age really is just a number! 30 is the new 50, and 50 is the new 90! With so many advancements in medicine, treatment plans and preventive strategies, age is what YOU make it. My 68th birthday is today, yet I feel so much younger  than that number - physically, mentally and emotionally. So I wanted to share my three secrets that help keep me young - it's a birthday gift to me, in a way, because I love to share my insight with all of you! Enjoy! (And as another gift to you, right now I have a birthday special going on: Get a full year to my Denise Austin Membership for only $75!!!)

  • Your Physical Age. It is never too late to start exercising. I can't stress this enough!! Being active has so many benefits, from more energy and a boosted metabolism to a healthy weight and strong muscles. Most everyone can add a stretching routine to their day (do it in a chair if you prefer) to promote blood flow, flexibility and even help to prevent falls. Lifting hand weights and doing lunges boosts your muscle mass, so you move with confidence and have more energy. Start slow, work your way up, and soon you will see differences throughout all parts of your life! If you want to make movement part of your life, you can get an annual membership to my plan for just $75 right now! A special birthday sale just for my readers!
  • Your Mental Age. Keeping your brain sharp and alert can shave years off your life - literally! A healthy brain allows you to participate in your community, which is shown to have life-extending benefits. It also provides you with the confidence to take on tasks and the ability to say "no" when you want some alone time (and "yes" when you want to explore new adventures!). Read books, do puzzles, try a new class, learn a new language - all help to keep your brain sharp!
  • Your Emotional Age. Remember that cranky old neighbor that was on TV back in the day? Well, we don't see that as often, because a positive attitude can help keep you happy and welcoming! Instead of dwelling on the negative, start each day with a positive mantra and mindset. Replace negative outlooks like "coulda, shoulda, woulda" with "I WILL, I CAN, and I DESERVE IT!!" Give people a compliment, help out someone juggling too many things, call up an old friend and say hi. All these small gestures add up, and in the end benefit your emotional wellbeing as much as someone else's!
Let's live FIT, HAPPY and HEALTHY - together!!
