Have you ever been excited to start a diet? You get your entire week of meals planed out, read all you can on a particular way of eating, and are set and ready to go. You follow the diet for three or four days, maybe even a week... and then life gets in the way. Has this ever happened to you? So many people ask how I continually eat healthy, and that's just it - I have made healthy eating continual...a lifestyle! For years and years I have made putting nutritious and delicious food into my body a priority. It is not something I do for weeks or months at a time. The way you eat should not be a fad or inconvenient!! Now don't get me wrong, having a healthy lifestyle doesn't mean I never indulge with a yummy dessert or eat a hamburger! The 80/20 rule is what I aim for. Eat good, nutritious meals most days; but when you want something that might not be the healthiest choice - EAT IT, just don't make it a habit. And the more you eat nutritious whole foods like fruits and veggies, the more your body will crave them!Instead of listing off all of the things that are not beneficial when dieting, let's talk about some of the things that are! Here are some "do's" when it comes to healthy eating:
- Eat Until Satisfied. Notice I say satisfied - not overstuffed! The key here is that you shouldn't be starving yourself. Eat meals and snacks when hungry and eat enough to satisfy that hunger!
- Drink Water. So often people confuse thirst with hunger. Stay hydrated throughout the day and you are less likely to overeat. This is especially important on days that you get a good sweat in!
- Snack Healthy. If you tend to get hungry in between meals, don't be afraid to grab a snack. Just make a wise decision and snack on something that's good for you! Making sure protein is included in what you eat is key - it will keep you fuller, longer! My EVER BETTER™ Protein Bites are the perfect mid-day treat!
