Boost Your Metabolism During Menopause with the 30-30-30 Plan!

I get asked about menopause weight gain so often, as it's an issue that affects a lot of women. Hormones, energy slumps, busy lifestyles and more can all lead to extra pounds as we turn 50 and beyond. The good news is that there ARE effective ways to prevent that weight gain and even reverse it, and one I am enjoying is the 30-30-30 Plan! 

My latest issue of Fit Over 50 has so many amazing articles devoted to menopause and weight gain - including proven solutions! One section is all about boosting your metabolism, which is vital when it comes to losing and keeping off the weight. When you get your metabolism kicked into high gear, you will burn more calories, even when you are asleep! That's why I recommend trying the 30-30-30 Plan. It's really helpful when you are trying to lose those last few pounds, as it can give your body a real metabolism boost. 

The idea is to eat 30 grams of protein for breakfast, within 30 minutes of waking up, followed by 30 minutes of exercise. The protein helps to build muscle, important as we get older and muscle loss is more common. Eating a protein-filled meal soon after you wake has been shown to help prevent people from gaining more body fat, as compared to say skipping breakfast or eating a low-protein meal. Finally, the 30 minutes of exercise will help you to stay regular, burn calories, promote muscle growth and so much more. Strength training is important here, along with cardio - this combo helps to build muscle that in turn will boost your metabolism, and burn calories and fat too! 

I absolutely love this 30-30-30 Plan! It makes so much sense to wake in the morning, eat a fueling, protein-rich breakfast that will keep you satisfied and full, then get moving for 30 minutes! It's a win-win for your physical health and emotional well-being, and studies show that it helps to boost metabolism!
