5 Cost-Effective Ways To Get In Shape!
1) Try a free workout program online. My brand new Vitality For Life Program begins this Monday... and the first four weeks are FREE! This program will help women of any age get on the path to a consistent, effective exercise routine. There's fun dance classes, strength training so you say bye to bingo wings and hello to firm arms, yoga for lengthening and strengthening - it has it all, and is perfect for any level! Plus a complete nutrition guide, wellness sessions (including all new Walking Meditations with me!!) and so much more. It takes just 30 minutes or so a day, and is a pledge to your health that you can't afford not to take! Sign up today and start moving - for FREE - with me on Monday!!
2) Pre-owned equipment can be just as good as new! While you want to be extra careful with fitness equipment that includes a motor, items such as hand weights, box steps and stability balls can often be found on re-sale sites - or even in your local "free" marketplaces. Be sure to inspect thoroughly and give everything a deep clean, but then they should be ready to use. You may have found your new fitness obsession for a fraction of the price!
3) Use household items (or your body weight) for strength training. By now you probably know how much I stress that women make strength training a part of their workout routine... the benefits are so numerous, from helping promote strong bones and healthy muscle, to preventing falls and promoting recovery. Plus when you add lifting weights to your lifestyle, you will boost your metabolism so you burn more calories even when you are asleep! If you don't have hand weights use cans of soup, a filled water bottle or another sealed container that is easy to grip and won't slip. You can also use your own body weight by doing pushups, lunges and squats. Not having the equipment isn't an excuse to not exercise - you can do it!
4) Track your moves. Tracking your progress is free and SO effective. Grab a notebook and start writing down the date, workout, and how you felt. Seeing your hard work on paper can help keep you motivated. My Vitality For Life Program offers a free, weekly printable journal to track everything from your mood and goals to achievements and social plans - get it for free when you sign up!
5) See if your employer or insurance covers workout programs. Some employers will deduct or reimburse in full or part fitness memberships. It's worth spending 30 minutes looking into it - ping your HR department and see what may be available!
And at the end of the day, walking is ALWAYS free and requires nothing but shoes and a good attitude! Get out, get moving and enjoy life - you are worth it!
Let's live FIT, HAPPY, and HEALTHY - together!!
